範例一

錯誤翻譯:內陸不動產公司
解析:公司名稱不要“意譯”(最好是“音譯”)。

解析:語意解析錯誤，犯了照字面翻譯的錯誤。

(2) 語意錯誤，誤將“with an aim”分詞片語(〝目的〞)，解釋成名詞“計劃”。

範例二

Many of you know that new England Wire and Cable has performed only moderately well for the past decade.
正確翻譯：如你們所知，新英格蘭通訊公司在過去十年的表現只能算是差強人意。
錯誤翻譯：如你所知，新英格蘭電信和電纜公司在過去的十年內正適度地在被覆行。
解析：語法解析錯誤，“performed moderately”，應為“差強人意”，表示“運作適中”;但譯者卻翻成“適度地被履行”，一則是被動表示錯誤;二則是語用上不合漢語表達方式。
To allow a company with such a history of survival to be taken over and broken up for its value by a many who cares for nothing but money would be devastating to this community and detrimental to the industrial infrastructure of nation.

(3) “left”是“遺留下來”，不是“遺忘了”，均犯了語意錯誤。

正確翻譯：但這些人除了用堆積如山的文件掩飾他們的痛處外，什麼也沒做。

(2) cover應翻譯成“掩蓋”，而非“接受”。
(3) nothing but=only，譯文完全誤解其意。

(3) 略詞，“over the next five years”沒有翻譯出來(undertraslate)。

解析：
(1) 語意上解析錯誤，“it will be entirely feasible for us”應譯為 “對我們來說將會完全可行的”，而非“它將成為我們合理的”。
(2) 語法解析錯誤，“restructure and consolidate in such a manner” ,應譯為“以此方法來重建和重整公司”(從後面倒翻)，而非“重整和鞏固用諸如此類的方法”(從前面順翻)。

範例三

since their U.S. market is expanding and their profits are good, they do not wish to risk an expansion at any price.
正確翻譯：自從他們在美國市場中擴展他們的業務後，他們的獲利率很好，因此他不想要在拓展新市場中，有任何危險。
錯誤翻譯：絕不會冒險來抬高價格，因為他們在美國市場的佔有率一直在增加而且獲利可觀。
解析：原文解讀錯誤:
(1) “an expansion”是指“擴張市場”，不是“抬高”。
(2) “at any price”是片語，代表“以任何代價”，不是“價格”。
XYZ Distributors is a medium-size distributor of U.S. sports equipment.
正確翻譯：XYZ經銷商是美國體育用品的中型產品經銷商。
錯誤翻譯：XYZ Distributors為美國體育用品的中盤商。
解析：語法解析錯誤，“a medium-size”是用來修飾 sports equipment而非distributor。
they are looking for an opportunity to get in on the ground floor with Long-range.
