詩(Poetry)

To be, or not to be, that is the question---------
Whether ‘tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of trouble,
And by opposing end them.  To die, to sleep--------
No more; and, by a sleep to say we end
The heart-ache and the thousand natural shocks
That flesh is heir to; ‘tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wished.  To die, to sleep--------- 正求之不得啊!死,就是睡眠;
To sleep, perchance to dream, ay there’s the rub,
For in that sleep of death what dreams may come,
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,
Must give us pause; there’s the respect
That makes calamity of so long life.
                                                                                    Hamlet   (One Shakespeare Play)

1. Sonnet#130 (William Shakespeare)

My mistress' eyes are nothing like the sun; 我的情人的眼睛絕不像太陽;
Coral is far more red than her lips' red:
If snow be white, why then her breasts are dun; 如果髮是絲,鐵絲就生在她頭上;
If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head.
I have seen roses damasked, red and white,
But no such roses see I in her cheeks, 但她的雙頰,賽不過這種玫瑰;
And in some perfumes is there more delight
Than in the breath that from my mistress reeks.
I love to hear her speak, yet well I know
That music hath a far more pleasing sound.
I grant I never saw a goddess go,
My mistress when she walks treads on the ground. 同時我承認沒見到女神在行進;
And yet, by heav'n, I think my love as rare
As any she belied with false compare.

Old Friends   (P Simon, 1968) 老友
Old friends, 老友,
Old friends 老友
Sat on their park bench
Like bookends.
A newspaper blown through the grass
Falls on the round toes
On the high shoes of the old friends.
Winter companions, Old friends,
The old men lost in their overcoats,
Waiting for the sunset.
The sounds of the city,
Sifting through the trees,
Settle like dust
On the shoulders
Of the old friends.
Can you imagine us 你能想像我們
Years from today,
Sharing a park bench quietly?
How terribly strange to be seventy.
Old friends, memory brushes the same years.
Silently sharing the same fear....
