由於本計畫採用資料庫翻譯研究方法，故需建立語料庫，所使用的語料庫處理軟體為ParaConc；此軟體不僅可支援雙語對照檢索、不限定語料大小、亦可靈活排列檢索字順序、檢索相當快速。Bowker(2000)認為，資料庫建立不只是將不同文章收集匯編起來即可(“It is important to note that a corpus is not simply a random collection of texts”)；最重要的是決定資料庫建立的準則，因為資料庫研究的結果取決於資料庫的內容(“The value of what comes out of a corpus depends very much on what texts are included in it”)(頁190)。故我們建立資料庫之前，需定義資料庫文類(text types)、文章收集的管道(text sources)、年限(time span)及主題(domains)。
